

Fund TypesMost funds at Coastal Community Foundation are endowed, providing a permanent source of funding for the community. Each year, 4% of the average fund balance of these endowed funds is available for grantmaking, with the remaining principal serving as a renewable source of charitable giving forever. UNRESTRICTED FUNDS: Committees comprised of community-minded leaders review the candidates, conduct site visits, and make funding recommendations. FIELD-OF-INTEREST FUNDS: Donors determine the specific area of charitable concern and grants are made from the fund accordingly, at the discretion of the Foundation Board. DONOR-ADVISED FUNDS: Flexible tool for charitable giving allowing donors to be actively involved in grantmaking, with as little or as much help as desired. SCHOLARSHIPS: Typically award grants for tuition, room & board to deserving students, based on criteria defined by the establishing donor. DESIGNATED FUNDS: Provide a source of permanent funding to benefit one or more charitable organizations designated by donors . ORGANIZATION ENDOWMENTS: Established by an organization to provide a source of permanent fiscal support for the on-going operational needs of that organization. |
