Foundation Support Fees

The cost of providing services to endowment funds is calculated as 1% of the balance for funds under $1 million in size, decreasing in a stepped fashion as fund size increases (see below). These fees do not include investment management fees which are approximately 0.76% (i.e., 76 basis points). Support fees include the cost of Coastal Community Foundation staff confirming the appropriate use of granted funds, board oversight of grantmaking and other shared administrative costs such as accounting, communication, and reporting services.

If instead you choose to establish a charitable trust at Coastal Community Foundation, all investment management and professional fees will be paid from the trust account. These fees vary depending on your circumstances and we can provide estimates of these fees in advance. We do not assess a support fee on a charitable trust if 100% of the remainder is designated for funds at Coastal Community Foundation. For all other situations, Coastal Community Foundation charges an annual fee of 0.5% (or 50 basis points) of the average trust balance.

All support fees are calculated quarterly.
