Donors

Since 1974 the Foundation has provided a rewarding way for individuals and businesses to give back to the community by establishing endowed, charitable funds. Our staff provides expert knowledge of nonprofits, prudent financial oversight, opportunity to create funds with a range of assets, and competitive investment returns. If you work with a professional advisor, we encourage you to refer them to us. Thank you for your interest in Coastal Community Foundation!

Donor-Advised Funds

Donor-Advised funds are flexible philanthropic tools, actively involving donors in grantmaking with as little or as much help desired. Our Programs staff is available to help donors target their interests to invest in particular community issues through grant recommendations. Once approved by our Board of Directors, grant recommendations are awarded to charities in the Fund's name, or anonymously, according to donor preference. Donor-Advised funds provide a cost-effective alternative to creating a private foundation.

At any time, additional gifts to the fund will receive the maximum tax benefit allowed. One generation of successor-advisors may be designated to continue the charitable giving upon the donor's death, or the fund may become Unrestricted.

DONOR STORY:
Blackbaud, the international software and account management company serving nonprofits, has encouraged employees to lend their time and talents to the community since its establishment. Recognizing the importance of volunteerism and civic action, founder Tony Bakker created the Blackbaud Fund in 1996 to further the company's philanthropic efforts.

Blackbaud employees recommend organizations in the Lowcountry to receive grants, particularly for programs focusing on education and disadvantaged youth. In 2007 the Fund reached the one million dollar milestone and continues to grow, strengthening the community - as well as the company.
