Organization EndowmentsOrganization Endowments are created by nonprofits to provide a permanent support for their ongoing operational needs. Often, nonprofit board members establish these endowments for the purpose of building them over time, allowing future generations to experience the increased benefits derived from a larger fund. Organization Endowments provide a source of stable income to nonprofits who count on this funding source each year. Donors may contribute to these funds at any time, receiving the maximum tax benefit allowable with each new gift. DONOR STORY: Charleston Area Therapeutic Riding is the only nationally accredited therapeutic riding program in South Carolina. In 2001, when operational costs were scarce, board member Helen Warren saw an opportunity to begin building a fund for the organization's future. "It was an important step," said Executive Director, Murray Neale. "It sent a message to the community that we're here to stay." Today, nearly a decade later, Charleston Area Therapeutic Riding owns their own property, where many challenged children have first climbed into the saddle, realizing the great potential of what they can do and assured of the great possibility for the organization's future. |
