The Beaufort-Port Royal Convention & Visitors Bureau is conducting the Inaugural Port Royal Sound Cobia Fishing Tournament on May 30, 2009. A Captainís Party and Registration will begin at 6:30pm May 29, 2009 at the Quality Inn at Town Center, and is open to all anglers. Free trailer parking is available and provided by the Quality Inn at Town Center. The tournament will begin on May 30, 2009 at 4:30am and will conclude at 4:30pm. The tournament is promoting catch and release of all Cobia. On-water verification and measurements will be available. The Awards Party will take place at The Office Sports Bar & Grille in Beaufort Town Center at 6:30pm. Cash prizes of over $5000 to be awarded. First Prize is $2009. Complimentary dinner and beverages will be available at both the Captainís Party and the Awards Party.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Port Royal Sound Fund of the Coastal Community Foundation. The purpose of the Fund is to maintain and improve the quality of life in the Port Royal Sound Watershed area by supporting the health of the waterways and the practice of sustainable development and redevelopment practices within the watershed.
