The maximum grant is $5,000 and the deadline for applying is Tuesday, September 8th. Last year the Fund made grants to 15 nonprofits serving Allendale and Hampton counties. In 2001, The Winthrop Family created The Winthrop Family Allendale/Hampton Fund at the Coastal Community Foundation in memory of Sarah T. Winthrop to provide a permanent source of funding to support charitable programs that benefit citizens who reside in Allendale/Hampton area. Even with the introduction of grant dollars from the Winthrop Family Fund, there is tremendous need in the community that is not being met. This past year 23 charitable organizations requested $162,352 to fund their programs, which was more than three times the amount available from the Fund. These surmounting requests certainly present a challenge to the whole community to find ways to respond to those unmet needs. Coastal Community Foundation welcomes questions regarding qualifying for the Winthrop Family Fund. Please feel free to contact Tasha Tucker (Tasha@CoastalCommunityFoundation.org) at 843-723-3635 or download a copy of the application from our Web Site: http://www.coastalcommunityfoundation.org/pdf/winthrop_application.doc ### Established in 1974, Coastal Community Foundation is a public grant making foundation fostering philanthropy for the lasting good of the community in Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Georgetown, Hampton, and Jasper Counties.
