02/16/2010BEAUFORT FUND RECEPTION TO AWARD $500,000 IN GRANTS Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton, and Jasper Counties – February 16th, 2010: On February 19th Coastal Community Foundation will host a 5:00 pm reception at the Arts Council of Beaufort County to grant half a million dollars in awards from The Beaufort Fund to 57 nonprofit organizations serving Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton, and Jasper Counties. The Beaufort Fund, one of 550 funds managed by Coastal Community Foundation, has issued over $4 million in grant awards since its inception in 1998. The annual grants pool has grown from $100,000 in 1998 to $500,000 this year creating a substantial funding source for the charitable recipients in coastal SC. Edna Crews, Regional Director for Coastal Community Foundation and the Staff facilitator for the grant cycle said, “It was such a pleasure working with the Advisory Committee and participating in the site visits. The committee logs many hours before selecting the final grantees. These organizations truly make a difference in our communities.” One-year grants will be awarded to 39 organizations in addition to 18 multi-year grants of which 2010 is the second of three installments. Current multi-year grant recipients received majority funding from The Beaufort Fund for five consecutive years before they were invited to apply for three-year grants in 2008, which are reflected in the total annual grants pool. The Beaufort Fund accepts applications from any eligible nonprofit in Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton, or Jasper County. Below is the list of nonprofit organizations receiving three-year grants followed by those receiving one-year grants.
