Grant funding for Tricounty nonprofits available
05/13/2010

Tricounty, S.C. – May 13, 2010: Coastal Community Foundation of Coastal South Carolina welcomes applications from nonprofit organizations in Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester Counties for its annual “Open Grants” program. The application deadline is June 1, 2010.

Awards up to $10,000 are available and grants are made in the areas of the arts, education, environment, health, basic human needs, or neighborhood and community development. Only organizations recognized as nonprofit by the I.R.S. may apply for an Open Grant.

Established in 1985 to distribute grants to the broadest spectrum of charitable organizations, contributions for this program come from 60 participating funds, ranging from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands.

The Open Grants program is funded by donors who want to support the full spectrum of charitable needs in their community and who trust community volunteers under the guidance of the Foundation staff to make those grantmaking decisions. Their gifts build up the Unrestricted Funds available to nonprofits given through the annual Open Grants program. Those needs may change from year to year or remain constant. The ability to respond to them is critical to the continued health and welfare of the community.

If you are a nonprofit organization in the Tricounty area, don’t hesitate to apply. The Open Grant application deadline is June 1, 2010.
