Organization Endowment

An innovative approach for nonprofits to support their work is to create an Organization Endowment. Annually you will receive grants from your fund's earnings, while Foundation staff manages all related administrative responsibilities. The assets of your fund are combined with Coastal Community Foundation's total assets to provide your organization the benefits of a diverse investment portfolio and low investment fees that typically come only from very large funds.

CHARLESTON AREA THERAPEUTIC RIDING: Helen Warren, a member of the board of the Charleston Area Therapeutic Riding (CATR), spearheaded the creation of the organization endowment for CATR.

"It sent an important message to the community that we're going to be here," said Executive Director, Murray Neale, who has found donors eager to support operating costs through the endowment.

Many local nonprofits have established Organization Endowments, finding that it can provide a rewarding way for donors to build a permanent funding source for their favorite charitable organizations. The Foundation can facilitate the most complex planned gifts including appreciated stock, real estate, or bequests that donors may designate for your fund. Per the management agreement, your fund will not be invaded to meet short-term operating costs. Donors may add to your fund at any time, receiving the maximum tax benefit allowable with each new gift.
